Mission
The Sports Lawyers Association (SLA) is a non-profit, international, professional organization whose common goal is the understanding, advancement and ethical practice of sports law. There are over 1,000 current members: practicing lawyers, law educators, law students, and other professionals with an interest in law relating to professional and amateur sports.
The Mission of SLA is four-fold:
- Be the preeminent professional association in the world for lawyers and other individuals interested in sports law;
- Be the leading convener providing (1) engaging educational opportunities promoting the exchange of a variety of perspectives and positions regarding sports law, ethics and related topics, and (2) networking opportunities for lawyers and other individuals interested in sports law;
- Foster the growth and development of sports lawyers to be in the best position to serve their clients; and
- Support local non-profit organizations and initiatives that utilize sports to develop and provide opportunities for youth in underserved communities.
